But as always you mad me smile. My biggest issue why I didn't fully fall in love with this book is because the two protagonists seemed too perfect at times. And Margot was a busybody, but I liked her. Of those who took part in a hook up that included vaginal, anal, or oral sex, 35% were very intoxicated, 27% were mildly intoxicated, 27% were sober and 9% were extremely intoxicated. We not only love to read books, we love to talk about them as well…which is how The Book Hookup was born.
She literally has a canary resting on her shoulder when she cooks breakfast in the morning. Reading this was like wrapping a familiar warm blanket around my shoulders and saying, Ahhhh. They take football seriously down south, and his talent has them clambering for a piece of him. I dreamed of living my life knowing things would come and go. The man to take my virginity and make it a memory. This story was unexpected but so good. All of these very unlike her now dead husband.
The story was slow to develop and at times, dare I say it, slightly boring. This peer culture has evolved and escalated with access to rapid communication such as texting on cell phones and multiple social media applications. Except there is another element floating just out of reach. And even though little time had passed since they met, she could feel a connection pass between them. A connection she hoped might be the start of something real. It's been 3 years since she's been gone, and yes, he's had other short term 'relationships' during that time, but he never led any of them on about having a future with him. And he will get it… He just has to be patient and prove to her that he is not the Drew that everyone else sees.
I noticed reading another book in this series and it peaked my interest because of. You touched on much and it all came together. Thanks for being such an engaging author. And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better. Izzy and Johnny are really sweet together and I enjoyed how they got to know each other but as with most of Kristen Ashley's books, this one is long and drawn out.
I appreciate this book is called The Hookup and the premise is in the title but for me, a book which starts with a sex scene is something that I generally loathe. Okay that's an understatement because i was almost all the time with Drew's side! All thanks to a mysterious, gorgeous guy who kissed - and then coughed on - her at a party the night before. He was funny and a little bit meathead, but i really liked how close he was with Drew and how he was handling all the bullshits that Drew pulled out at him near to the end! No major conflict though contrary to what the blurb leads on. He wasn't perfect, and he wasn't at all what he seemed. I adored th I fell asleep reading The Hookup. Additionally, 95% of women and 77% of men say they prefer dating to hooking up.
The sex scenes were incredible and although plenty, they were done in a way that never got boring or mistaken for filler. Needless to say if you've read one of the authors other books like Complicated, then you have no need to read this one because nothing really ever happens. You didn't know how to live under my light? I loved how this couple grew together and learned a lot about themselves and what they were capable of. Everything, including the bed, the copious bookshelves filled with copious books and the easy chair in the corner was sparse and sleek, like Johnny had hit an auction of the dressings of the Mad Men sets and furnished his home with his buys. Anna had her issues, she had a bad opinion of Drew and she didn't want anything more than a hook-up. Intercourse that occurred less than 24 hours after meeting, and those that took place only one time are the most likely to be regretted.
They both end up having a series of hook ups, in which I swear I could literally feel my panties melting! Subculture can affect gender roles and sexuality, and youth subcultures are particularly susceptible to peer pressure. Who I imagine the next book might be about. Anna Jones is a dedicated college student and the last thing on her mind is a relationship. This story was incredibly lazy! Out of necessity, unconsciously and very successfully, Josephine donned a disguise to keep all others at bay. I said I was sorry but I want you to know, Iz, that I really am. A life changing meeting with Anna, has him wanting for the first time ever to pursue someone to have something serious. Along the way there were walls to crumble, hurdles to get over, battles to fight, family members and friends to meet, romantic words and scenes to share, passions to ignite and threats from the past to overcome.
There will be times when assumptions are made and have to be cleared up. I'm hoping his story is next although at this time, I couldn't find any details. You can usually find me over on so stop by and say hello, I love to chat. And just as they were beginning to explore their something new, his ex returned. To find out when more will be released.
